Mom & Me - Road Trip to Florida!!

OMD, I totally furgot to tell you all, in March Mom and I went on a road trip down to Clearwater Florida to visit Aunt Karen and Cousin Jake (her Min Pin)

This was my first time ever walking on a beach - I loved it!! So many great smells. And then the next day we all went to Pet a Palooza - WOW there were so many other dogs, it was great! I of course did very well in the car. It took us 2 days there and 2 days back. I just LOVE staying in motel rooms!!!

I've Moved and I'm an Only Dog

Well, Momma and I moved to Lexington KY. I won't go into the details of why, but it was hard to leave my whippet and basset sisters behind. Very hard for Momma too. She says they were the only ones who made her think of possibly staying... but she just couldn't. I'm so glad that I got to go with Momma!! I loved playing with my sisters, but now I get ALL of Momma's attention. Here's a photo of me in our new apartment. YES... I still get sunbeams!!!!!

Fortunately for me, I eat a different food than my whippet sisters! There are some BIG problems with Canidae All Life Stages dry dog food and my sister Athena is affected too. You can read about that problem on their blog here.

See this picture? That's my Bob with me and my new friends - Gremlin (cream color) and Nixie (on Bob's shoulder)

Nixie and Gremlin came to visit last weekend with their Mommy Dayna. They went to a party with some Renaissance Faire people and I didn't get to go... humph! But I got to meet my friends when they got back at night. (well, I already met Nixie!)

Well, let me tell you... I was kinda miffed at Momma for a while. I could tell that she had been holding Gremlin ALL NIGHT! But I can't stay mad at momma for long ;)

When everyone got home and me and my whippet sisters got to meet everyone, it was a little crazy - but only for about 10 minutes. Soon everyone was just walking around anywhere they wanted. My big sisters knew better than to chase my new friends... but they sure kept trying to sniff their "you know whats". THAT was annoying for them I'm sure!

My Favorite Place to Snuggle...

THIS is my most favoritest spot to snuggle!! AND it's the reason I don't mind winter so much.

Can you spot me? The top of my head is showing... I'm all snuggled inside Momma's sweat jacket while she's working on a bear!

I spend 1/2 the day inside Momma's sweat jacket. I'm so little that I can stay inside even if she has to get up and walk somewhere else!

Aaaahhhh, this is the life of a Chihuahua!!

Momma got a new laptop this January so she said she hopes that she can help me type more. But we'll see how THAT goes. Momma always has more projects than time....

OK... so I like to Kiss!

I can't help myself... I'm a lover dog! I kiss ALL the time! I'm just SO happy to see my people!!! When Momma comes home, it's kiss kiss kiss! When Bob comes home, it's kiss kiss kiss! When Momma or Bob sit down on a chair or the couch - time for kissing!

My favorite time to kiss is when I come in from going "out" in the morning. I get to go out first with Cleo and Isis. Then we go back into Momma and Bob's bedroom while Momma takes the Kamada Girls out (Athena & Pandora). While Momma is taking them out, I ATTACK Bob with kisses!! I'm just so excited... I know that breakfast is coming soon!

My other favorite time to kiss is when Bob comes home from work. He usually changes his fur from his work fur into his "around the house" fur. (I don't get why they take their fur on and off, but hey, it works for them!)

After Bob is changed, he lies down on the bed for whippet and chihuahua time!!!! We all get to say a really good hello after he's been gone all day. I sit right on his chest... sometimes even his throat - to kiss him hello.

One day Bob thought he'd be the funny guy and see how many times I can lick in a minute. Hmmppf! He lost count after 100 licks in one minute ;)

Homemade Dog Treats!

Momma has just started a new blog site - recipes for dog treats!! Boy are we excited about that! Some of the recipes are hers, some she's gotten from others, and others she's found but has not had time to try out. I don't know WHY she hasn't had time to try them out yet... I think that should be her FIRST priority!

Have I told you about my Jen? She's Momma's daughter, Bob's step-daughter. She's usually away at college - and takes part of her summer break to go visit her dad in Oregon. But when she's home... I LOVE to snuggle up with her!!

I can do anything to her too... I may be small - but I'm strong!

And sometimes you just need to cuddle after a long day.... I love my Jen!

A Chihuahua Jaunt to the Forest Preserve!

Momma is trying to get back into walking. Her Dr finally put her on a blood pressure medicine so she figured she'd better get back to it. The fun part is that I get to go with!

There is a forest preserve right next door to our street and she likes to walk there as it doesn't get as boring as walking on the block ;) I get to sniff a little bit, but for the most part I ride in a pack on momma's tummy. I look like a little Joey (baby kangaroo).

It's great cause I can't get surprised by some of the stuff that's there (like snakes!) Besides, some people walk their BIG dogs there withOUT a leash.

I had a GREAT time! I could see everything since I was up high and I could sniff everything too. I can't wait till tomorrow morning!

I must tell you... I am pretty annoyed about that new Disney movie coming out in September. You've probably heard about it as the trailer is now on YouTube - it's called "Beverly Hills Chihuahua".

There are a lot of people upset about the movie... many for political reasons... but I'll tell you why I am upset -- this stupid movie is just going to make TONS of people want a Chihuahua!

Now if they are responsible pet owners - have done their research on the breed to be sure that a Chihuahua is right for their family, that is not a problem. But unfortunately that will often NOT be the case. Many people will get us as pets for their small children - mistakenly thinking that a small dog is ideal for a small child... NOT!!! grrrrrrrr

Many of these people may also think that we will behave just like the chihuahuas in the movie... NOT!!! grrrrrrr

The sad thing is... the irresponsible puppy mills will be churning us out like potato chips without caring what happens to us -- or even taking care of those pups mommas and daddies! There are going to be TONS of chihuahuas in Chihuahua Rescue :( as if there aren't already a lot of us there already!

My Momma adopted ME from Chihuahua Rescue USA so I know!

That is exactly what happened to the Dalmatian breed when Disney came out with the movie 101 Dalmatians.

Ren Faire in Chippewa Falls, WI!

Momma and Bob are big into this "Ren Faire" stuff. They dress up in funny clothes and go to these "Faires". My whippet sisters told me about this when I came to live here - they said they only go during the summer.

I was also told that if it wasn't for "Faire", I would be here! You see, Momma and Bob met a friend at the Faire who happened to have a chihuahua for a service dog. Momma just FELL IN LOVE with her -- and for 2 years bugged Bob to get a chihuahua.

Obviously it worked - cause here I am!

Well, the Faire that Momma and Bob usually go to is Bristol. It is a very busy Faire and they do not allow pets (except service animals of course!)

Late June though, they decided to attend a Faire up in Chippewa Falls, WI and they DO allow pets, so I got to go! They didn't bring the camera (grrrr) cause the battery needs to be replaced - but I DID get to meet Nixie - the chihuahua responsible for me being a Matthews!

I had a wonderful time! I loved walking around - and when I got tired, Momma would carry me. SO many people thought I was so adorable! I was a very good girl and didn't mind at all when people would ask to pet me.

I really wanted to show you a photo of Nixie cause she's so special to me. Momma dug up this photo of her from last year at Bristol....Isn't she beautiful???

Hi! My name is Sequoya - often called "Squirt". I'd like to welcome you into my den!

I've been living here with my Forever Family since February of 2008 and I REALLY like it here!

This photo was taken of me on my very first day home - aren't I cute!

I asked Mom if I could start my own journal so I could also add all that cute chihuahua stuff that's on eBay to the side :)

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my whippet sisters!! But sometimes a girl just has to have a little space to herself ;)
